Biography

I live in Pocatello, Idaho with my wife and two children. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State University and completed my doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Penn State University. I then worked at Penn State for two years as a Research Psychologist and Senior Staff Psychologist at the university's student counseling center. In my position there, I provided individual and group psychotherapy, assessment, clinical supervision, and crisis services. I also ran a small private practice conducting adult Autism assessments. Although my family and I loved our time in Pennsylvania, southeast Idaho has always felt like home to us, and we were fortunate to be able to move to Pocatello in 2026.

My personal interests include baking, watching movies and shows, and spending time in the mountains (which is one of the perks of living in Pocatello!). I tend to be very detail-oriented and planful, but I also enjoy letting my goofy side show. Who I am as a person is deeply influenced by my being a husband and father. My identity as an Ex-Mormon (i.e., a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) is also an important part of my worldview. These and other identities (e.g., straight, cis, white man; lower middle-class upbringing) shape my personal and professional interactions.

I have a profound commitment to affirming others' identities in and outside of my professional roles. I highly value working with people of various sexual orientations, gender identities, religious and spiritual traditions, racial/ethnic backgrounds, national origins, ability statuses, neurodiverse identities, political affiliations, and family compositions. I do my best to intentionally advocate for the equity and wellbeing of people of all backgrounds and identities in my professional and personal roles.
